Goodbye Chipped Corners

Using rounded corners on wall linings in their Rotorua home was a decision Daron and Julie made early in the design process.

“My parents had rounded corners throughout their new home and we knew from experience the difference it makes. Not just in a style sense, but in a practical sense as well,” says Daron. Rounded corners aren’t nearly as susceptible to chipping or other damage caused by every day wear and tear, vacuuming and the like. They’re ideal in high traffic areas such as hallways, entrance ways and also in family rooms.

Explains Daron: “We went to a group house builder and settled on one of their designs. But we did a lot of “up-specing”. There’s some GIB Toughline® in the home, the wet areas are GIB Dry Zones® and we’ve also used the larger GIB-Cove® to help achieve the look we wanted.” “We phoned up for the GIB Living Solutions® book before we started. It was very useful and helped us explain to the builder exactly what we wanted.

The builder was pretty impressed with the rounded corner treatment as well and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it in a lot more of their new homes.”
