Learn from our mistake warns disappointed homeowners
Mike and Georgina's advice to anyone planning on building is TAKE CONTROL.
If you've done your homework and decided what you want, don't let anyone talk you out of it.
˜Learn from our mistake warns disappointed homeowners Mike and Georgina had made up their minds to include GIB® Noise Control in their new Auckland home, but were talked out of it and now we'r paying the price by having to compromise our lifestyle.
It's really disappointing, says Mike because to put in noise control now would be a real major.
Mike and Georgina spent a great deal of time researching and planning their dream home. “We collected lots of ideas from magazines and the GIB® Living Solutions® book and told the builder what we wanted. Unfortunately, when it came to noise control, he basically said that it would cost a fortune and wouldn't make much difference, explains Mike.
While they were sceptical of the advice, they nevertheless went along with it. On reflection, we should have stuck to our guns. We also found out later that in fact it wouldn't have cost much at all.
The annoying thing is that I wired up the lounge for a surround sound home entertainment system which it turns out was a waste of time. The master bedroom is directly above the lounge and if I want to watch a test match or DVD with a few mates, its hopeless. I've got to keep the sound right down.
It's the same when the kids are playing in the rumpus room. You can hear their antics all over the house.
