Having a penchant for the wide open spaces, James and Nicolle had a pretty clear idea of the style of house they wanted to build on their five acre lifestyle block.
“Big land, big house, big rooms and split level flooring to keep it interestingâ€, says James. Their new 500m² home north of Auckland features high ceilings virtually throughout and the effect is, in their words, “sensationalâ€. “This is the fourth home we’ve built and we’ve had a 2.7 metre stud in all of them. We like the feeling of space and this time, with so much land around us, it was even more importantâ€. Spaciousness is evident from the moment you enter the home with a large void in the entrance way and larger doors leading into the main living room and lounge. “The larger doors help maintain a better sense of proportion, and one thing’s for sure: the place is certainly not claustrophobic,†says James.
James and Nicolle also paid special attention to detailing and finish, using GIB Ultraline® on the ceilings throughout and GIB-Cove® for wall to ceiling junctions.
