GIB Fireguard Zone®

Protecting your special things ideally in your study or home office.

A GIB Fireguard Zone® is designed to withstand intrusion of fire for a longer duration than a standard plasterboard wall, and this is achieved by lining the walls and ceiling surrounding the room with a GIB® Fire Rated System.

When designing your new  home, it is important to choose a room with limited amount of combustibles such as soft furnishings - so the study/home office is ideal. Ensure the designated room is on the ground floor.

What is used in a GIB® Fire Rated System?

As all homes are not created equal please consult a professional tradesman around the details of installing a GIB® Fire Rated System in your home. A GIB® Fire Rated System consists of:

  • 2 layers of 10mm GIB Fyreline® on outside wall of room
  • 1 layer of 10mm GIB Fyreline® on inside wall of room
  • 1 layer of 13mm GIB Fyreline® on ceiling
  • A fire rated door with appropriate hardware or solid core door with a self closer and fire/smoke seals
  • Ensure that there are no switches and power points on the other side of the wall outside of the room or use fire rated ones.

NOTE: In a GIB Fireguard Zone® all GIB® plasterboard needs to be mechanically fastened and have solid timber behind all sheet joints.
