The major issue in the study or home office is noise.
However, the home office is often used to store valuables, important documents, computer files and personal items, such as photos, that can’t be replaced.
House fires are devastating to anyone, and while we may have insurance and can have our homes rebuilt, the items that you know are irreplaceable there are things you can do to give them a better chance of survival in the event of a fire.
These issues can be avoided by incorporating a properly installed GIB Quiet Zone® or GIB Fireguard Zone®.
By installing a GIB Fireguard Zone® the fire will be kept out of a room longer, giving you and the Fire Service more time to get the fire under control.

BUILDING: When designing your new home, designate at least one room to be a GIB Fireguard Zone® - the study/home office is ideal.
If your home is multi storey make sure you locate the GIB Fireguard Zone® on the ground floor. For privacy the study / home office should be located away from external noise sources such as road noise and internal noise sources eg. laundry, kitchen, TV room, rumpus etc. If an isolated location is difficult you can position a wardrobe in between areas to achieve maximum separation.
RENOVATING: After removing old linings this is the perfect time to add extra power points for computers, fax machines, extra phone lines, light switches and insulation which in older homes are often minimal.
For new or existing homes the inclusion of smoke detectors and sprinkler systems is strongly recommended.
For noise reduction and added protection in a fire combine the GIB Fireguard Zone® and GIB Quiet Zones®.
